Woolamina’s Ephemera!
The sheep fainted when they saw the number of antique photos, books and documents I have acquired. They stamped their feet until I found a way to share them. (They even threatened to make me walk the plank??) Journaling is a way for the items to find their way into a project that makes other people happy. Stray items that need a new lease on life. This is a bundle of vintage Dictionary and Encyclopedia pages. I removed a signature at a time from each and put them in 2 pound bundles. Woot! The pages range from 12 inches to 5× 7 inches. My guess would be there are at least 100 pages in each one. The bundles include a variety of pages from various vintage books I have here on my shelves. Time to be better about sharing, so the sheep say!
Pages range from 1850 to 1950. Lots of fun fonts and paper texture.

A fun pack of vintage/antique ephemera all from various publications/ledgers all in foreign languages. The pages are from 1850- to 1950 books in my collection. There are 8 ounces of paper in each pack, my guess at page numbers would be 25+.

More fun in the auction haul last week! This is a bundle of vintage auto repair forms from a Wisconsin shop. They measure 8.5 × 5 inches; are a nicely aged color, blank and a continuous form.

They are the Illinois pharmacy copies kept from Prescriptions during the 1920’s-30’s. Most measure around 5 × 3 inches. There is just a little variation in size. Quite a few different doctors’ signatures/writing too. I love these for pockets in journals or just to tuck into a pocket.

I’ve been collecting all things blue for an upcoming journals I have planned. Holy camoley I have over done it! As I sorted the paper and such, I set aside a kit for you too.

Halifax Commercial School was founded around 1850 and remained in business until the early 1900’s when it was purchased by a bigger school system. The ledger found its way to me via a Connecticut estate sale.
This ledger had me stumped until I found the school info! It was a workbook from the school and the label shows S. E. Whiston as principal- one of the original founders of the school. Harding M. Gerhardt’s fancy signature is on the fly leaf. However, I was unable to find info about Mr. Gerhardt.
The first handwritten entry in the ledger was in 1892. Gerhardt’s ledger is an example of how people went about learning to do business. From filling out forms and accounting, to typing and sending telegrams, ordering supplies.
The receipts and money were all part of the workbook packet so students could practice their skills. They ran a ‘real’ business complete with invoices, receipts, cash and more.

They are a standard form that is filled out by the student. The papers date from 1892, some I believe to be earlier than that. There were several versions of the papers because they looked too close to the Canadian currency of the day. Students got caught passing off the bills as real money in town. Oopsie! That led to some design changes as time went on.

This paper pack is made up of checks and info that I purchased from Albert Franklin Wilkerson’s estate. He was born in 1887 and grew up on the family farm in Lebanon, Kentucky. They were poultry and egg sellers. I have receipts here from eggs and chickens they sold. In later years I found him living in the same area. He owned a retail ice company. His son went on to drive a transport truck for Kroger groceries in the 1930’s.
The checks are from the 1920’s to 1930’s. They are handwritten and cancelled by the bank with beautiful, colored stamps on the backs.

I came across a large hand-sewn embroidery piece that needed some help. Ended up taking it apart to save the squares. I am no expert but the fabric feels like the cotton kitchen dish towels - the squares are each approximately 14 x 14 inches. When she finished a square, she sewed them together. I carefully took the squares apart at the seams. They are a little fragile, if you wanted to spruce up the stitching I’m not sure how they would hold up.
They are beautiful and a very talented seamstress put a lot of time into them. I showed them in a video here:

You have probably guess I love old, well-loved quilts. It is difficult to take them apart however, I think a quilter would love to know her quilt was so well loved that it needed a new job in life. Quilts are meant to be cozy, warm and used right? At least that is what I hope they think. The quilts I dismantle are beyond saving on their own as they are.
I in no way an expert but it looks like some of this fabric could be vintage feed sack? Whichever it is, it is vintage and beautiful. There are a variety of patterns and colors, which I will offer up as random items. We priced them singly so anyone could have a few or as many as they like. I have a LOT of them.
The white fabric feels like the white cotton dish towels my Mom has and my grandma had. The quilt was handstitched. Blocks measure approximately 10 x 10 inches.
